Just short posts for a few days now, and few comments I’m afraid.
THE exam is on the 18th. so head down and total immersion now.
And a week after the exam, off to Paris!!!
If only I could just skip straight to Paris mode by-passing the exam. I’m ready to let off steam and have a good time. Images of the Marais keep crossing my mind when I am trying to revise Baroque style and structure. I can see me in my little flat, shopping at the market, whipping up trifles of gorgeous food, sitting in cafes sketching with my friends, visiting the Theatre, etc. etc. each time I revise Romantic use of chromaticism.
And when thinking of key structure, it is the Christmas lights, concerts, decorated windows and hot chocolate which seduce me away. The smells of new bread, the exquisite pastries all decorated with angels and crowns, The Place des Vosges on a crisp autumn day, the museums, gardens, squares, houses, Cathedrals, restaurants all say “Don’t work, get ready to play!”
The trouble is that I have learnt what I wanted to learn, can now do what I wanted to be able to do. ‘So why bother with the exam’ comes the siren call. But for the sake of completeness I will give it a go. Taking time off to enjoy this gorgeous autmnal weather with the dog has not helped the revision but has given me and him days of pleasure which are numbered now. His back legs are going from bad to worse.
But it would be a shame to lose sight of the official recognition of how far I have come. So off to the books in earnest now. I think it unlikely I will pass given the other things I have been doing for the past few weeks but I do not regret them. We’ll see: what will be will be.
Speak more fully after next Monday.
PS Any more ideas for little goose names, speak up now, or for ever lose the chance of the golden egg!!
