A wobbly couple of days after Monday’s assessment but no depression this time, thank goodness. But migraine!
So far it is responding somewhat to the meds. but it only goes to show, you think you’ve got your emotions under some kind of control but the effects are more wide reaching than you can feel. What a shame that we cannot turn off those pesky emotions.
Anyway, I’ve been doing the necessary marking ready for the exam board and continuing with my arrangements for Paris. It looks as though youngest nephew and his girl friend would like to avail themselves of a pad in Paris for a week, negotiations over dates are on-going! My new neighbour down the road is hopefully coming over for a few days too, and my oldest friend is coming for a long weekend as well. Brother in law did not fancy a sofa bed at his time of life, even though I am assured it is a very good sofa bed. Shame that, as I thought my sister might really enjoy a bit of Paris before Christmas, the lights, the shops an’ all! I haven’t been able to persuade her to come by herself. I also hope my middle nephew and his partner will come for a few days if they feel like it, since it is not often that I will be in a position to offer free Parisian accommodation! At the moment I am trying to work out dates so that people don’t need to ‘hot-sofa’!
I have been in touch with a young woman tutor in Paris who offers one-to-one tuition either at home or ‘on the hoof’ and we have come to a mutually satisfactory arrangement. When I arrive we will meet, she lives close to where I will be staying, and sort out days and times. I am hoping for some literary discussions, modern French literature and plays etc. as well as some trips out to places that tourists don’t think of going, chatting the while. Sometimes I worry that I live a kind of mental Walter Mitty lifestyle, visualising myself doing all sorts of things that I am not clever enough to do, but it gives me something to aim at. Time for some daily revision: the trouble is I am having trouble tuning into Radio France Internationale which is essential if I am going to get up to speed in time.
Speaking about taking things on, do please click on to The Idiot Speaketh on the right hand side of this page.
He is seeking sponsorship for a trip to South America with a charity, Global Mission Readiness, so that he can help raise their profile. His blog is so popular and he is such a good writer, that I am sure he will be able to help them. But the trip will be a real challenge for him. Good luck to him and to everyone who tries to take on challenges which are outside their comfort zones!
Sounds like a great trip. With a son going off to university in a year, I’m limiting myself in travels right now. 😦

Ah yes, the student years. Always a stretch for the parents! Well, I’ll try to share the experience on-line so that you can live it a little until you are able to go yourself.
